October 2014 Bulletin, "Long-Anticipated Alberta Pension Reform Takes Effect"

Alberta has moved ahead with the modernization of its pension law, by approving regulations to its new Employment Pension Plans Act (EPPA). The EPPA, which came into force on September 1, 2014, is intended to provide greater flexibility in creating and operating pension plans in Alberta.

A new issue of The Segal Group’s Bulletin provides an overview of the major provisions of Alberta’s new pension law and includes a list of key action items for plan sponsors.
